In May 40K Globe and The Sydney Institute ran a competition for jewellery design students to come up with some designs for the Roka project.
My design was one of the two selected and I have been offered a scholarship to go to India for a month in July to teach women in Marenahalli Bande (quarry) village the different techniques to produce the piece.
I am sure you can all imagine how excited I have been about this opportunity. It is the perfect combination of all the things I love and I keep thanking my lucky stars!
I get to be part of a team in a program that facilitates personal development, be immersed in Indian culture, make jewellery AND... did I mention I also get to volunteer at the learning centres? Bliss!
