I am very happy to share with you that my piece titled 'Breath. Taking' will be on exhibition 2015 Warringah Art Prize Exhibition held at the Warringah Creative Space, 105 Abbott Rd, Curl Curl from Thursday 13th to Sunday the 23rd of August.
The collection of marine debris from local beaches led to reflection on the impacts plastic pollutants have on our eco-system.
Further investigation on these issues revealed numerous images of wildlife death caused by suffocation on human waste and led to the design on this waste to art project.
‘Breath.Taking.’ is a knotted neck-corset made utilising marine debris, string cut offs and repurposed beads, and, is modelled with a plastic bag on a recycled mannequin of a human torso to personalise this big issue.
It is not just our environment that is suffering from our actions – ultimately we are hurting ourselves.
