Here are some photos of the work I created for the Wangaratta Petite Miniature Textiles Exhibition 2018.
It is a sculptural piece made up of hundreds of little knots and was inspired by a visit to Coalcliff rock-pools.
On that particular day the tide was low and we were able to walk out much further on the rock shelf than we normally would. The rocks glistened in unexpected combinations of blues, browns, greys and orange. It was so beautiful.
On returning home I immediately found myself rummaging through my threads and picking out the colours I had seen. And so it was that, with a deep sense of presence and well-being, I started making this piece.
Made over the span of 30 hours it has been an intuitive and (aside from moments of self-doubt) a free flowing process.
The frame was custom made for this piece by @polygonframing ♡ (photographed whilst fitting up the work)
